How do I put the Familien-App on the home screen?
The salzgitter.de Familien-App is a progressive web app (PWA). It is available free of charge for various operating systems, browsers and end devices. On smartphones, tablets and desktop computers, the web app can be easily placed as an icon on the home screen and used like a classic app. Your advantages: You use all the functions of an app, but don't have to install anything and don't need any storage space. All information and services can be accessed even more quickly via the web app.
And this is how it works
- Call up the Familien-App (opens in a new tab) via a browser.
- Add the app to your start screen (home screen):
- Chrome/Android: Activate "Add to home screen" in the menu (three dots, top right) and click on "Add". The Familien-App icon can then be found on the start screen (home screen).
- Safari/iOS: In the "Share" menu (icon with arrow at the bottom center), first click on "Add to home screen" and then on "Add". The Familien-App icon can then be found on the start screen (home screen).
- Desktop computer/PC: In browsers such as Chrome, Edge or Brave, click on the plus symbol on the right-hand side of the address bar. Confirm "Website installed as app" in the dialog box. The web app or the Familien-App icon can then be found in the programs overview.
Click on the icon and the web app will open.

How do I subscribe to push notifications and how do I unsubscribe from them?
Subscribe to push notifications from the Familien-App by simply dragging the slider to the right to "green". And off you go. By activating the slider, you give your consent to receive browser-based push notifications. The notification service can be canceled at any time using the slider or in the browser settings.
