General information
The guardianship team supports and advises young people whose parents are separated on issues relating to paternity and maintenance claims. In addition, acknowledgements of paternity and declarations of custody are notarized.
A guardianship can be set up for
- the establishment of paternity or
- the assertion of child maintenance.
The youth welfare office at the place of residence of the parent making the application is responsible.
In Salzgitter, this is the specialist service for children, youth and family.
Eligible to apply is
- the parent who is entitled to sole parental custody,
- in the case of parents who have joint parental custody, the parent with whom the child lives,
- the expectant mother (or her representative if the mother is legally incapable) if the child has not yet been born.
A written application to the responsible youth welfare office at the place of residence of the parent with custody is sufficient. The guardianship can also be set up before the child is born.
The parent who has applied for guardianship can also terminate it at any time. It is sufficient to notify the youth welfare office in writing.
The guardianship ends automatically as soon as your child comes of age or the legal requirements are no longer met.
We take the time for a personal consultation. It is therefore essential that you make an appointment in advance.
