To get off to a good start, it helps if you meet people who have been living here for a while and you learn the local language. If you go to school or do an apprenticeship, you will learn a lot about Germany, our education system, the language and the culture. There are people at every school who can advise you. Another great way to improve your language skills and make friends would be to join a sports club, for example. Have you always enjoyed playing soccer? Then see if there is a club near you that you can join. The same applies to other hobbies, of course. For young people up to the age of 27, there are children's and youth clubs in some districts of Salzgitter. For example, you can play billiards and table football, listen to music and meet people there free of charge. At first, it can take a bit of courage to go to new places. As a young person, you learn German well at school or when you spend your free time with others who also speak German.
