In my opinion, the exciting thing about working as the head of a youth welfare office is the variety of topics and the challenge of constantly having to adapt to new situations. With the exception of a few regular appointments, it is impossible to describe a regular daily routine.
As a specialist service manager, I am involved in different topics on a daily basis, sometimes dealing with difficult cases in the area of socio-educational services, sometimes with the construction of a daycare center, including the tendering process, or with management as part of youth welfare planning.
My tasks also include dealing with complaints and answering public inquiries.
A lack of resources, such as suitable places in residential groups, the shortage of skilled workers and, at the same time, the implementation of new laws and quality standards present youth welfare services with a variety of challenges, both in terms of personnel and finances.
In particular, networking in the individual areas of youth welfare is well developed in Salzgitter. My aim is to continue to strengthen this as an important success factor in working with children and young people in the future.
