Who can I ask if I am worried about my child?
Are you worried about your child?
Difficult situations are also part of life and the development of your child's personality. Children and young people test their own limits, but also those of others. Others withdraw and don't socialize, others are very ambitious or can't make friends.
If you have the feeling that things are not running smoothly, you can contact the class teacher or the school social worker. If you wish, the school social worker can, depending on the situation, put you in touch with other support services and advice centers.

What is the baby greeting?
The baby welcome is carried out by a volunteer who visits you at home. As a mother/father/parent, you will receive a baby welcome card in advance, at the earliest six weeks after the birth of your child, with an announced date for the welcome visit.
During the welcome visit, the volunteers will have an open ear for any questions you may have in this new phase of your life. You will receive the Salzgitter-Sammelmappe, which will accompany you and your child for the next few years. You will also be introduced to the Salzgitter Familien-App, which contains helpful offers and contacts in the city area. You are already in the thick of it!
The baby welcome can also take place in person at the Family Service if you wish.

Who will support me with questions about parenting?
Many questions can arise in everyday family life. Some are easy to answer. Others are less easy to find answers to. This can lead to uncertainty, stress or circling thoughts.
You are welcome to come to the advice center with your questions.
What are good media options for my child?
When making your selection, pay attention to age-appropriate content. The FSK* (films, series) or USK** (video games) is a good help here (large seal with the age rating 0, 6, 12, 16 and no youth rating [from 18]).
However, many media, especially purely digital media (without data carriers), do not have an age rating and are freely and easily accessible on platforms such as YouTube. Research the desired medium on the internet and find out about the content.
As an adult, you are welcome to watch it alone or with your partner and then decide individually whether the content is suitable for your own child.
It also makes sense to experience an age-appropriate program/game together with the child and then decide whether the child is ready for it. You can also discuss the experience with the child.
In addition, the general terms and conditions of the respective websites/apps provide information on the earliest age at which these offers should be used. Sites such as Klicksafe or spieleratgeber-nrw provide good information about various offers.
